Valentino V is a feminine floral woody musk fragrance introduced in March 2005 and developed by famous perfumer Alberto Morillas. At that time, the scent marked the first effect of the cooperation between Valentino and Procter & Gamble in the fragrance business; since then in 2010, Valentino perfume business passed to Puig and reportedly all fragrances produced under the previous arrangement were discontinued.
Speaking about Valentino V at the time of its launch, the fashion designer Valentino said: “I felt the need for a new woman’s perfume that would reflect and celebrate today’s woman – her power, her femininity, her complexity”. I sniffed Valentino V a couple of month after its launch and then again two years ago, to discover a fragrance that exhibits an oriental-floral woody character.
Valentino V opens on a blend of pink grapefruit, mandarin and fig accords, followed in no more than 20 minutes by a rich floral heart built around notes of rose and freesia petals, offset by orange buds. The dry down happens after a period of two hours and includes aromas of cedarwood, sandalwood and gray amber.
The bottle that contains Valentino V has a feminine and sophisticated shape, focused around the essence of this fragrance, which is represented by the letter “V”. Due to this particular form, the flacon may be positioned on two sided, which adds to its appealing image. The advertising campaign is centered on the red color, which is Valentino’s favorite, and features the Russian model Eugenia Volodina, who appears in a sensual video commercial, dressed in nothing but a red-feathered mask, like a princess accustomed with the unconditional admiration.
