Arrived on the market in 2006, V pour Homme is an oriental woody fragrance from Valentino, introduced one year after its feminine counterpart. I sampled V pour Homme immediately after its arrival and to me it seems like a well behaved, kind of stylish fragrance aimed at the charismatic man. This is in fact only the third masculine fragrance dedicated to men by Valentino, the first two being Vendetta Uomo from 1991 and Very Valentino from 1999.
On my skin, V pour Homme exhibited a nice projection that accompanied the fragrance during its entire development stage. The mixture of spicy, fresh and balsamic notes is destined to unveil a classic scent that uses its ingredients cleverly for an interesting olfactory experience.
V pour Homme begins on a pungent blend of citrus and pink paper. Later, as this combination evaporates, the replacement comes in the shape of an enchanting bouquet of floral notes, spices and amber. For the dry down, the personal touch sandalwood and cedarwood is mixed with sweet vanilla and musk, to leave an oriental trail that persists.
The bottle of V pour Homme has a simple, yet classic design, in which the transparency of the glass that reveals a pale blue liquid is highlighted by the painted “V” logo from the middle and the brands name. The packaging box comes in a darker chromatic, however is equally elegant and good looking. Overall, V pour Homme is a pleasant fragrance for the man that looks for something else than the usual stuff.
