I know that classics are not always what they are supposed to be but, after the pleasant surprise with Paco Rabanne Pour Homme from the beginning of this month, I reckoned the French fashion house of Emanuel Ungaro might go in the same direction. Sadly, I was mistaken, given that the perfume tested yesterday is another example of uninteresting and dull olfactory creation.
Arrived on the market in 1993, Ungaro Pour L’Homme III is an aromatic green scent which, according to the descriptions from the official website, is “the fragrance for a man who adores to seduce” and “a thrilling sexy masculine character”. This sounds excellent on paper, however the reality is that this perfume is similar to the rest of zillions perfumes in the mainstream market.
The opening in Ungaro Pour L’Homme III needed to contain, accordind to the listed notes, pepper, lemon and orange and in this situation, perhaps my benchmark was set to high (when I think of pepper in a perfume I imagine Terre d’Hermès, perhaps Bang!), but the fact is that I was not able to perceive any of this accords in the outset of Ungaro Pour L’Homme III. There was a hint of lemon, but that was all. Then, it followed the mid development, with listed notes of geranium and patchouli and here, I am able to say that both were quite perceivable, especially the sensual patchouli. At the moment of dry down, I was again confused, because I had to detect vetiver and sandalwood, and instead I could not find a distinct accord among a construction that resembled vaguely with the description.
The packaging of Ungaro Pour L’Homme III is interesting, with a total black color scheme, complemented by a touch of golden (the entire upper rim of the bottle), however this is one aspect that I would prefer modified, but this is only me. Overall, this fragrance is, in my opinion, something that needed a little more attention. But then again, I never was such a big fan of Ungaro.
