Fragrance Review

There was a time when I was totally fascinated by every new launch in perfumery from and in spite of the fact that lately, my level of attraction for this brand has faded, I still perceive an olfactory pleasure every time I have a chance to sniff a fragrance.

Wood was introduced by Tom Ford in 2007, as part of a larger collection composed of 11 more unisex fragrances and called . The scent belongs to the olfactory grup and the rest of the fragrances from the collection included: Amber Absolute, Noir de Noir, Velvet Gardenia, Black Violet, Tobacco Vanille, Purple Patchouli, Bois Rouge, Moss Breches, Tuscan Leather, Neroli Portofino and Japan Noir.

From this generous line I was only familiar with Tuscan Leather (sampled last summer in !), therefore I wanted to extend my horizon and perceive Tom Ford’s approach on a theme that has become very fashionable in the last years. And subsequent to only one whiff on my wrist, I should say that Oud Wood is beautifully executed and its abundance of ingredients renders the perfumes with a pleasant character, ideal for both sexes.

An exquisite aroma of wood is available from the initial moments and the sensation is extended until the extreme dry down, which makes from Oud Wood one of my favorite scents in the Private Blend collection. The listed notes for this fragrance include: rose wood, cardamom, Chinese pepper (Sichuan pepper), oud wood (agarwood), sandalwood, vetiver, Tonka bean, vanilla and amber. Oud Wood comes in Private Blend’s signature bottle: the rectangular shape that brings to mind an apothecary flask which has the neck decorated with a golden logo.
