Fragrance Review

by Kenzo was introduced in 2007 as a masculine fragrance, created to evoke the energy and dynamism of the Nippon capital. The scent was developed by perfumer and reflects the characteristic of this unique city in which the night appears to be more illuminated compared to the day, thanks to the city lights.

follows a construction in which 4 color themes are present. The first color theme belongs to yellow, and to highlight it a blend of ginger, lemon and grapefruit was employed. Then, there comes the moment of the second color theme, a bright green, in which mate, and shiso are the ingredients. The third theme is the phase in which the perfume turns to passion, due to the pulsating red facet, which encompasses essence of pink pepper and bitter orange note. For creating a memorable impression, the finish impresses with an intense dark facet, built with guaiac wood, clove, nutmeg and cedar.

The fragrance conveys the story of the big city, through the eyes of a Western man, disoriented by and ready to experience the rich Japanese culture. The bottle that holds Tokyo by Kenzo was designed by the Tokyo-born Japanese Art Director and is a re-interpretation of the shapes present in . The resulted image is mixing skyscrapers and bamboo, to replicate the bright lights emitted by the imposing constructions that became a landmark of Japan’s capital. The video advertisement is focusing on the images of Tokyo, to transmit the emotion perceived on the occasion of the first time visit to the city.
