Although it has not yet reached its 10th anniversary, Alien from Thierry Mugler is already a classic. As a result, any flanker that arrives on the market makes me questioning its quality and that’s exactly what happened with Alien Essence Absolue. Fortunately, this was not the case, because the most recent flanker of 2005’s Alien turned out to be what I was looking for: a more concentrated essence of seduction that follows the steps of Alien and the iconic Angel.
In spite of the fact that I sniffed Alien at the time of its introduction, I actually got a good insight of this perfume in the summer of 2010, on the occasion of a special event in my life, when my cousin decided that this would be the perfume to wear that day. Seizing the opportunity, I analyzed the structure of the fragrance, reaching to a very favorable conclusion, as Alien somehow reminded me of Classique from Jean Paul Gaultier.
Alien Essence Absolue is reinterpreting the theme of amber, placing it in a luxurious setting that will surely constitute a vital accessory for a modern woman. After the floral opening that delights your senses, Alien Essence Absolue veers to an even more pronounced floral heart, to conclude with a sensual combination that involves oils and precious blond woods. The list of official notes provided by Thierry Mugler includes: vanilla, flower accords, amber, jasmine, heliotrope, myrrh and cashmeran wood (a blond wood); the perfume was introduced in June 2012, is described as a feminine oriental woody and was developed by perfumer Dominique Ropion.
Overall, this will most likely turn into a classic of Thierry Mugler, given that, in light of the brand’s releases from the last couple of years, I was beginning to wonder whether Thierry Mugler has lost or not the sense in perfumery.
