Every time I sniffed a perfume created by Andy Tauer I felt transported into a journey full of intense emotions. The first one was No. 02 L’Air du Desert Marocain, then followed No. V Incense Extreme and now I tested No. 06 Incense Rosé. And if the initial secured a deserved spot on my “to buy” list, the battle between the 2 incenses had one surprising winner: the rose.
Introduced in 2008 as a shared oriental floral, No. 06 Incense Rosé is absolutely captivating and to be fair, words are not sufficient to describe the feeling that I got from smelling it for the first time. Andy Tauer has done it again, and while sniffing it this perfume with satisfaction I realized that, in spite of the fact that I loved Incense Extreme, this is another story and due the fact that it was told so fine, you can not possible resist it.
In Incense Rosé, the accord that renders the perfume with the floral half of the name is making an appearance from the very beginning, followed closely by the enchanting incense, and some hint of orange from time to time. The listed top notes include cardamom, clementine, bergamot and the star: wild rose. Then, as these accords subside, you will perceive the intense accords of dark incense, once again listed as heart note, in combination with orris root and castor. For the final part, the list included balsamic and dark notes of myrrh and patchouli, blended into Texan cedarwood and vetiver.
On the official website, Incense Rosé is described as a “mysterious fragrance, like a thick flying oriental carpet with floating rose petals, built around smoking frankincense”. The flacon that contains it is represented by the signature bottle of Andy Tauer, with the pentagon shape and the deep blue colored glass, reminder of sea water.
Not necessarily for the lovers of rose, but definitely for the incense fans, Incense Rosé is one of the most interesting approaches to incense that I ever smelled.
