Fragrance Review

Asmar was launched in 2008, as part of a collection with 8 perfumes, imagined and developed by from in collaboration with Intertrade Europe. Each and every perfumer from this collection and Asmar makes no difference. Surnamed “the Dusky one” on the official website, the scent is described as “a concentrated but pleasant amber fragrance” and “when meets Scheherazade”.

My story with began last year in April, at the time when I was buying my precious Numero Uno. The sales assistant presented me something new and different, Nur, and I was fascinated by a pleasant aroma, never perceived before by me in any perfume. As a result, I considered it immediately for my next acquisition, but, upon reading more about SoOud, I thought that Asmar could be interested as well. After testing both of them, I must say that both are excellent, however if I had to choose only one I would go for Nur. And this was on my “to buy list” until sniffing No. 02 L’Air du Desert Marocain by Tauer Perfumes 2 weeks ago and deciding finally for the latter. As an aside, Nur and Asmar were pushed on a pending list, with indefinite term.

Asmar is a unisex fragrance belonging to the olfactory group and its listed ingredients are: bergamot, white honey, carnation, roasted coffee, amber cigar, grape marc, amber, tobacco leaves, chamois, musk and vanilla. The first aroma that you will perceive upon sniffing Asmar is that of honey. After that, the fragrance evolves into a gourmand facet, sustained by the coffee notes, at the same time as feeling the smell of dark chocolate. The dry down features a hint of leather, alongside the usual musk that normally appears at this stage. Overall, Asmar is an excellent shared fragrance in case you are looking for something truly special.
