I felt a little baffled while sampling Daim Blond, not only because this is a unisex chypre floral (can you imagine a chypre floral for men?, well Serge Lutens did!), but because this is a creation that could only bear the signature of Serge Lutens. Arrived on the market in 2004 and developed by perfumer Christopher Sheldrake, Daim Blond had reportedly found its source of inspiration in the softest white suede.
Available in Eau de Parfum Haute Concentration (with a 20% concentration, according to the official statements), this fragrance is complex, soft and very elegant, conveying a notion of rich that could only be exclusive. The accords employed by Mr. Sheldrake for conceiving this beautiful scent were Iris pallida, apricot kernel, Ceylon cardamom, musk, heliotrope and hawthorn and this is one combination that will remain in your memory for a long time. In spite of the fact that Daim Blond is not my favorite fragrance from Serge Lutens (I like Chergui and Arabie!), this remains as one point of reference and a “must” in your list of fragrances selected for a test.
The sensation of refinement present while testing Daim Blond is conferred by its notes of Iris and heliotrope, with their powdery, yet gentle smoothness character. Cardamom attaches a spicy facet to this olfactory construction, at the same time as the musk accord enters the stage in order to deliver a complete nature to this elegant combination. The bottle that contains Daim Blond is the signature silhouette of Serge Lutens’ Export Line with a liquid that exhibits a beige color scheme. Overall, Daim Blond represents an ideal fragrance for wearing on a beautiful day of spring, a time in which the ingredients that shaped the essence will shine in an irresistible manner.
