Fragrance Review

Tuscan Soul was introduced in September 2008 and it was available right away, therefore I had the chance to sample it very soon following the launch. This unisex fragrance was developed by perfumer and represents the Ferragamo olfactory version with respect to the essence of , a re-interpretation of the citrus colognes which are deemed as an attribute of the Italian perfumery.

According to the press release, the fragrance is targeting the Asian market, especially the Chinese one, which seems to be continuously expanding, hence the need for such a product. Moreover, quoting one one of Ferragamo officials this perfume is regarded as a creation that “it embodies our whole heritage and represents our DNA in a bottle”.

The aroma of Tuscan Soul is enjoyable in the beginning (like most of the citruses are!) however it develops into something different in the more advanced stages and does not have sufficient persistence. The fragrance starts off with a combination of citruses, in which the aroma of is clearly distinguishable alongside petit grain. Then, as the first 15 minutes are gone, Tuscan Soul shifts into a delicate flowery facet, obtained from the blend of and magnolia blossom. I tested it in the same time as my wife and we both experience a premature dry down, in which it became obvious its woody facet, sustained by the concoction of fig tree aroma and iris accord.

The image of Tuscan Soul is elaborated, also due to the fact that the scent was presented in a flask that has an ambivalent look, as a combination of a masculine and a feminine silhouette. The circular shape of the frosted glass is contrasting with the golden shaded stopper, the latter adorned with the Ferragamo logo. The video advertisement presents a couple that enjoys the tranquility of a life in Tuscany, which leaves them with a sentiment of pleasure and relaxation. Overall, Tuscan Soul is more appropriate for the summer period of the year and travel purposes as well.
