Back in 2004, while purchasing Escape for Men from Calvin Klein, I decided that I needed a dedicated evening scent. My choice: Subtil Pour Homme by Salvatore Ferragamo, a perfume that was tested repeatedly prior to this acquisition. This was in fact the first and last (until now!) evening fragrance in my collection. So, that particular day was memorable, because I arrived home having not one, but 2 excellent perfumes!
Subtil Pour Homme was introduced in 2003 by Salvatore Ferragamo, as a woody spicy fragrance dedicated to the urban man, elegant and sensual in the same time. While sniffing it for the first time, upon perceiving heart notes I concluded that it was a great composition that deserved a place on my “to buy” list.
Subtil Pour Homme opens on a mix of citruses and spicy notes, contained in the blend of mandarin orange, ginger, cardamom and lotus leaf. Then, as the top notes fade away, the heart reveals its floral facet, encompassing Rose, violet and coriander. Finally, for the trail, the warm amber combined with white musk and patchouli is perceived in the dry down.
The bottle that holds Subtil Pour Homme employs once more the theme launched in 2002 by its feminine counterpart, Parfum Subtil. This time, instead of red, grey blue is the employed chromatic, used in the making of the transparent glass. The bottle has a swirled shaped and is engraved on the lateral with brand’s signature logo. The elegant silver metallic rim in the upper part and the matching stopper are completing this stylish image. Overall, Subtil Pour Homme is an ideal perfume for evening wear, the type of signature scent that highlights your informal attire.
