Roberto Cavalli entered the perfumery field in 2002 with Roberto Cavalli for women. One year after, its masculine counterpart was introduced, Roberto Cavalli Man, a woody aromatic fragrance developed by the famous perfumer Alberto Morillas. Unfortunately, these days Roberto Cavalli Man and all the other scents produced in the period 2002-2011 under the license of ICR-ITF were discontinued, the new agreement with Coty making available only the perfume launched this year, Roberto Cavalli For Her.
I remembered testing Roberto Cavalli Man right in the year of its introduction, and being impressed by the strong and enchanting aroma of lavender which dominates the mid development, balanced by the sandalwood note in the base. The scent clearly reflects the enthusiastic character of Cavalli’s fashion and is aimed at the men who are comfortable with showing a pronounced male facet.
The structure of Roberto Cavalli Man opens on a refreshing citrus blend over which bergamot is fighting for prominence, followed by lemon accords and spicy ginger. Then, as the scent moves into the heart, a more sensual facet is revealed, in a combination of absinthe (absinthe wormwood) and lavender, wrapped in leather and juxtaposed to cedarwood. Subsequent to a couple of hours, the construction dries down to a musky mixture of sandalwood and musk.
Roberto Cavalli Man comes in a bottle which has a rectangular shape and is made of transparent thick glass, adorned with an embossed snake and revealing a colorless liquid. The serpent represents a strong emblem of the Cavalli style, while the packaging box sports a blue shaded snake’s skin appearance.
