Like many of the perfumes based on vetiver, Prada Infusion de Vetiver is a masculine fragrance. Introduced in 2010 and belonging to the woody spicy olfactory group, this scent was developed, like most of the Prada creations lately, by perfumer Daniela Roche-Andrier. Having as source of inspiration the feminine classic Infusion d’Iris from 2007, followed in 2009 by Infusion de Fleur d’Oranger, this new addition to the “Infusion” collection represents a premiere in the masculine department. As a re-interpretation of the 2008’s Infusion d’Homme, Infusion de Vetiver is much fresher than the original and render with a powdery hint in the final phase.
From the outset, the structure of the fragrance relies on a lively mix of citruses (grapefruit and tarragon) with purple ginger note. Then, after the initial notes, you will be stimulated by a good dose of Madagascar pepper, offset by fresh notes, a structure which represents an original heart. The quintessence of this masculine scent, the vetiver note happens upon dry down, a moment in which it is juxtaposed by aromas of musk and powdery notes. The woody aroma of vetiver from the base makes you instantly think of how the freshly cut leaves smell like.
Since I’m not an authentic fan of the Prada products, nor felt the need to buy any of their scents, my attraction towards any new launch is poor. However, I can not help to notice that Infusion de Vetiver is a well done masculine fragrance that is worth a try. The scent comes in the classic Prada bottle, made from transparent glass and topped by a stopper with the same design as the packaging (a type of fabric characteristic for Prada). The video advertisement tells the comprehensive story of this perfume.
