XS represented the stating point for all the current iterations in perfumery from the house of Paco Rabanne. Introduced in 1993 as a masculine woody floral musk, XS is the result of a creation process developed by perfumers Rosendo Mateu and Gerard Anthony.
A classic example of a perfume whose fame was exceeded by its flankers, XS represents the image of virility, according to the Paco Rabanne’s vision from the ‘90’s. I remember it was 2008, when I finally manage to sniff it, long after making an opinion on Black XS, one of its aforementioned follow-ups. Sadly, XS has a classic image which seems to be avoided by the current generation, more preoccupied with everything that’s flashy (read 1 Million!) and on the olfactory level it has a hint that is vaguely reminiscent of the CK’s iconic scents from the ‘80’s.
XS starts off with a pungent dose of lemon, bergamot, tarragon, rosemary and mint. Later, as the scent passes into the mid development phase, you will be able to detect the heart notes, filled with Brazilian rosewood, geranium and juniper. The closing of the perfume is the moment in which the musky character is unveiled, in a blend of sandalwood, patchouli, musk, vanilla and warm amber.
The bottle that holds Paco Rabanne XS has a shape that resembles with a Zippo lighter, meant to fuel the fire of passion, rendered by this interesting aroma. The elegant flask is made of transparent glass, adorned with the perfume’s name printed in black and topped by a silver stopper.
