A reference in perfumery and one of the most successful masculine fragrances made by Yves Saint Laurent, Opium Pour Homme arrived on the market in 1995, within a time frame of 18 years from its feminine counterpart. This oriental spicy scent was developed by perfumer Jacques Cavallier and represents the magic and mystery facets of the East, embodied by the notes of Tolu balsam and Atlas cedar, characteristic for this essence.
Opium Pour Homme extracts its appeal from the opulence of the Orient and captures in a bottle that’s inspired by the original Opium, featuring a name that leads you into thinking of drugs, addictions and magic charms. The fragrance opens on a fruity accord, in which the black currant, star anise, mandarin and lavender are combined. Later, as the time passes by you will feel the heart of Opium Pour Homme, swathed by a blend of galanga, geranium, ginger and Sichuan pepper. Subsequent to a couple of hours, the authenticity of the fragrance goes further, sustained by the mixture of the already mentioned Tolu balsam and Atlas cedar accords, juxtaposed by Bourbon vanilla and patchouli.
This fragrance brings me back happy memories, because in spite of the fact that I did not rushed to buy it at the time of its launch, nor had it in my collection, I enjoyed using the Opium Pour Homme After-Shave Balm for a few months (thanks to a gift from a friend of mine!) and I must say that is absolutely precious.
