Nasomatto Absinth – Makes You Impulsive

Nasomatto is a niche fragrance house founded in 2008 by Alessandro Gualtieri and based in Amsterdam. The creator experienced a vision, according to which “I begin to make something but at a certain point, it starts making choices by itself. It is the process that interests and guides me. I like the feeling of loosing control and I’m not the one making the choices. My involvement is to create something that is alive and will be able to say new things. I want my perfumes to have an intelligence of their own, not just be slaves to my meaning.” And Amsterdam proved to be the perfect location for substantiate this theory.

Absinth is a woody aromatic unisex fragrance, introduced in 2007 and developed by perfumer Alessandro Gualtieri. According the official website “The fragrance aims to evoke degrees of hysteria.” The presentation is unusual with a bottle which belongs to the Nasomatto project. The transparent glass with rectangular shapes is fine designed, the color of the liquid brings to mind an alcoholic drink and the disproportionate stopper balances this exercise of imagination.

Absinth is constructed around notes of wormwood, which is perceived as the dominant accord through its entire development stages. The listed ingredients are green notes, vetiver and (of course!) wormwood. Absinth represents a complex fragrance with an incredible lasting power (more than 12 hours!), which is legitimate, taking into account that absinthe was the source of inspiration. The initial impression comes from a very herbal, grassy character which seems invasive.

All the perfumes created by Alessandro Gualtieri are full of personality and Absinth makes no exception. Due to its excellent sillage, this fragrance belongs to the limited category of fragrances that are meant to attract all the attention on the wearer.

Absinth is available as 30 ml Extrait de Parfum Spray (having a concentration of 15 – 40%); the lasting power is above average (more than 10 hours) and the sillage is excellent.
