Two days ago, accompanied by my wife and while being in front of Narciso Rodriguez shelves in a Douglas store, I decided to sample (on her skin, of course!) the new Essence in Color, right after testing one of their most recent perfumes Essence Eau de Musc.
Essence in Color was launched in June 2011, as a flanker to 2009’s Essence, a perfume which, in my opinion, was quite a disappointment, taking into account that it was coming from the Narciso Rodriguez brand. This feminine floral woody musk fragrance is available in Limited Edition and according to the official press release “each element of this ultra-sophisticated limited edition has been enhanced to sublimate the original Eau de Parfum in a couture way”.
Coming after a day in which my wife tested 2 other new fragrances, my conclusion is that Essence in Color is a very interesting choice for this summer, by way of its floral, musky and amber accords. Exhibiting a structure that remains faithful to the classic olfactory pyramid, Essence in Color employs a limited number of ingredients while the result is more than interesting. Of course, Narciso Rodriguez For Her Eau de Toilette version still remains No. 1 on my feminine perfumes list, but this is a valuable alternative.
The opening in this fragrance is reserved for the iris powder note, followed quite rapidly by an accord of white musk, the “essence” of the scent. After more than one hour, the base of Essence in Color is unveiled, in the shape of the unmistakable aroma of incense coupled with benzoin.
The flacon that holds Essence in Color is a replica of the one presented with the original Essence, except this time is painted in a purple hue that catches the eyes and together with the unusual silhouette of the stopper is responsible for shaping an interesting image.
