Mont Blanc introduced Présence d’une femme in 2002, geared at the mature woman, who may be defined by 2 words: class and style. This is an oriental vanilla perfume that was designed by the perfumer Michel Almairac.
Even though Présence d’une femme is not a new perfume, I discovered this fragrance very late, in 2007, following a gift suggestion from a Sephora’s sales assistant. And from what I’ve sensed at that time on the blotter, it gave me the impression of a well done perfume. The dominant notes found in Présence d’une femme are pepper, patchouli and vanilla, the scent being constructed as a contrast between woody, fresh spicy and floral accords.
Présence d’une femme opens with pepper and mandarin orange. This combination of fruity spicy is what it confers to this scent a character of freshness. Upon evaporation of the top notes, the middle notes appear, simply represented by a floral mixture involving cyclamen and orchid. The dry down is more complex and combines accords of Brazilian rosewood, vanilla flower, patchouli, sandalwood and mahogany.
The shape of the bottle evoke the fragility and power of the woman, exhibiting nice curves that brings to mind the woman body and in the same time the petal of a flower. The glass is transparent, allowing the golden colored liquid to be admired.
The Danish fashion model and former Victoria’s Secret Angel, Helena Christensen was selected as the face for the ad campaign. Présence d’une femme is perfect for the woman that wants to attract the attention but is subtle in the same time. She has to own a classic style that works fine with the fragrance and her seduction power is better exerted with a help from this fragrance.
