22 years after the launch of its Poison Collection (inaugurated in 1985 with Poison) and subsequent to the fourth component in the range, Dior introduced Midnight Poison in 2007, as an oriental woody fragrance for women, developed by 3 noses that represent the recipe for success: Francois Demachy, the master perfumer of Dior, working with Jacques Cavallier and Olivier Cresp from Firmenich. Advertised with the slogan “A new Cinderella is born”, Midnight Poison is a fragrance that “was composed with a captivating, yet elusive seductress in mind” (from the description on the official website).
The dominant accord inside Midnight Poison construction is Rose, the queen of flowers, subdued by a hint of patchouli and nice warm amber. The story behind this scent represents the reinterpretation of Cinderella story in the vision of John Galliano, shot by famous Hong Kong filmmaker Wong Kar-wai and embodied by the French actress and model Eva Green. The story begins the moment the clock strikes midnight and the protagonist is vanishing in the mist.
The notes of Midnight Poison represent sheer delight for your olfactory senses. The opening is composed from essence of Damask Rose, then, in the mid development, this note is transformed into elegant patchouli, which in a while dries down to a pleasant accord of amber. This powerful blue scent symbolizes the magical charms to perfection.
The transparent bottle of Midnight Poison, which is similar in shape with the original Poison, exhibits an ultramarine blue shade of the glass, aiming to match the color of Cinderella dress from the video advertisement. Overall, Midnight Poison is a fragrance for the powerful women who rediscover their true nature.
