Fragrance Review

Last weekend, more precisely Saturday, was extremely pleasant for me, because I dedicated a couple of hours to perfume testing. As a result, I sniffed some interesting essences, which will be featured in my next posts. First on my list: , the most recent perfume from Lanvin, in the men’s department. I admit that I tested it more due to curiosity, after reading a favorable review a couple of weeks ago.

Introduced by Lanvin last year, as an extension to their men’s fashion line, Avant Gard is a modern , developed by perfumer from . In spite of its totally uninspired bottle, my conclusion at the end of this test is that Avant Garde is a pleasant perfume, appropriate for a stylish man.

The first accords of the scent are wrapping you into an aroma of and pink pepper, juxtaposed by and juniper. In the mid development, the scent preserves its strength, with the dominant tone of , placed in the middle of a combination that featured lavender, nutmeg and cardamom. The final part lasted sufficiently to leave a powerful and pleasant impression on my skin. The notes present in the dry down are gathered around georgywood, a synthetic molecule developed by Lanvin and include amber, vetiver, cedar, tobacco and benzoin.

With respect to Avant Garde, as I mentioned earlier, my only regret is the bottle, which is totally inappropriate. The combination of opaque black glass and green transparency in the middle aims for something original, but instead, delivers a common shape, which makes it far from conspicuous on the perfumery shelves. This interesting scent deserved a better packaging, but in the end, probably the bottle will make it popular. Who could tell?
