Lancome Poeme – A Delicate, Yet Powerful Fragrance

Nowadays Poeme is a classical Lancome fragrance, but at the time of its launch, 5 years after the best seller of the house, Tresor, it had to face a tough competion. This perfume has always considered a fragrance able to produce a strong impression, much like Classique, from Jean Paul Gaultier.

To put in simple words, Poeme embodies a delicate and powerful fragrance in the same time. Similar to a poem that needs your imagination to run free from all the constraints, Poeme features an innovative composition.

Introduced in 1995 and designed by perfumer Jacques Cavallier, the architecture of this beautiful fragrance does not obey the classic composition of top, middle and base notes. Jacques Cavallier authored a work of art in which the accords are emerging alternatively, like an echo. The structure is build around the contrasts between sweet, found in the white and yellow flowers (narcissus, datura, jasmine, mimose, ylang-ylang, orange blossom, freesia, tuberose, mixed with intoxicating Himalayan blue poppy) and bitter, represented by citruses (a combination of bergamot and mandarin orange). Additional notes such as leather, peach, rose, cedar, amber, tonka bean, musk and vanilla flower are added to confer personality.

The final result is a scent that surrounds you with sensuality. The bottle of Poeme exhibits a bitter honey color and represents a fusion of contrasting shapes: good-looking curves and straight lines. And this sensual image is perfectly personalized by Juliette Binoche, face of the ad campaign

I only wish I could discover Poeme earlier, but I’m sure that this scent belongs to every woman’s favorite list. Working with the contrasts like a recurrent theme, Poeme is a fragrance for which you can not find words to describe it, “a fragrance beyond words” as stated in the Lancome website.

Lancome Poeme is available in 30, 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum Spray and also 30, 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette Spray; the lasting power is above average (more than 10 hours) and the sillage is excellent.
