Fragrance Review

I tested from Yves Saint Laurent four years ago, with a friend who was also passionate about his scents, and even tough he was fascinated by it, the fragrance did not convinced me from the first sniff. After the second and third smell, revealed its character, that of a captivating fragrance for the successful man from the 80’s.

The second masculine perfume which was launched by the French fashion house founded by Yves Henri Donat Mathieu-Saint-Laurent, arrived on the market in 1981 as an fragrance developed by perfumer . The scent will become a classic reference in the world of perfumery, due to its clever construction that confers the aromatic facet.

We tested Kouros on our skin that day and even tough in the beginning I was somehow disappointed by its blend of citruses and spices, built from bergamot, clary sage, coriander, Artemisia and aldehydes, later, I became enchanted by its floral heart that included geranium, vetiver, jasmine, Orris root, cinnamon, patchouli and carnation. Subsequent to a couple of hours, the dry down with dominant notes  of leather and honey was enveloped in a combination of vanilla, oakmoss, , white musk, amber and Tonka bean.

Kouros comes in a presentation which is very suggestive. The white bottle is meant to be reminiscent of the purity and importance found in the athletic spirit, while the elegant combination of blue and black chromatic present on the packaging box brings to mind the deepness of the sea. The opaque glass suggests as well a feature of healing balm for the injured athlete, an interpretation that makes this essence a vital one. Overall, Kouros will please the man with strong moral values, defined by a classic fashion style.
