After reading some very convincing reviews that were praising the most recent creation of perfumer Geza Schoen, the man behind the scents from Escentric Molecules, I decided that testing it would be imperative. Since I was not familiar with any of his perfumes, my expectations were huge and I should tell from the start that I was kind of disappointed, particularly with respect to the persistence of the perfume.
According to the information derived from the press release, Kinski Eau de Toilette was produced after reaching to an agreement with Kinski Foundation, mostly for commemorating 20 years since the death of the famous German actor. Introduced in 2011, Kinski Eau de Toilette is a woody aromatic “richly decadent, textured scent”, as described by the same source. On top oh this, the bottle that holds Kinski Eau de Toilette has a split image in order to evoke the shattered personality of the man that embodied the image of a vampire for many generations.
Kinski Eau de Toilette top notes are cassis, juniper and costoreum; its heart is made from oceanic notes, reportedly because of Kinski’s affection for the sea; base notes are animalic and woody accords, in order to reflect the actor’s untamed sensuality. As I was about to found out subsequent to the spraying, at least in my case, the enthusiasm did not match the initial description.
From the outset, Kinski Eau de Toilette remained close to my skin, thus making it quite difficult the proper assessment of its aroma. Even thought in the mid development the scent shifted to a more generous aroma, this was a little far from satisfactorily. I’m not saying that Kinski Eau de Toilette is a bad perfume, I’m just saying that for me, it seemed considerably poor compared to other fragrances tested in the same day (last Saturday), therefore not even a chance to inspire me a buying thought. In spite of that, Kinski Eau de Toilette is definitely worth a shot, so I would expect you to sample it.
