Kenzo Power – The Scent Inspired by an Imaginary Flower

Fragrance Review

was introduced in August 2008 as a masculine fragrance. This scent was developed by perfumer and for me it’s the quickest sniff folowing a launch because I had the opportunity to test it after 2 weeks, in Triangle Barcelona, the largest store in the world. Sadly, my impression on Power is not so great.

Conceived as a masculine counterpart for 2000’s Flower by Kenzo, this is “an abstract floral fragrance with amber and wood”, as described on the official website. “A mix of inner strength and sensitivity”, Kenzo Power comes in an unexpected size bottle: the 750 ml bottle.

The beginning of this fragrance is spicy, with a blend of cardamom, and coriander. After no longer than 30 minutes, the heart reveals a refined combination in which abstract floral accords are fighting for prominence. As the perfume reaches the dry down phase, you are able to detect the aroma of cedarwood, juxtaposed by and ciste.

The intention of Kenzo to replicate the success of their best-selling feminine fragrance is a little hampered, since Kenzo Power does not introduce a groundbreaking creation. In spite of the innovative bottle, created by the Japanese designer , the scent has a well-behaved floral character and that’s pretty much all. The shape of Kenzo Power’s bottle reminds of a and is adorned with a flower exhibiting the silhouette of a tulip. The video advertising is faithful to the minimalistic touch of Kanzo and features the theme of power combined with kindness.
