Today I will write about a special perfume and this is Jungle Homme from Kenzo. As I’m sure that you will always remember your first bottle of perfume that you bought, if you are indeed passionate about fragrances, for me that was Kenzo Jungle Homme. I saw an ad in a magazine from that time, featuring a bottle with an interesting shape and I just knew I had to buy it. Of course, later on followed a trip to the perfume store, but today I consider this as part of history.
From the first time that I smelled Jungle, I was impressed with its citric notes of lemon and bergamot, beautifully combined with cinnamon in the top notes. The sensation of freshness was very present and I could only expect more, which came after some time, in the combination of cardamom, pepper and amber. The buying decision was made. After more than one hour, I sensed the elegant aroma of cedar, vetiver and sandalwood and I knew I made an excellent decision.
The bottle of Kenzo Jungle was also special; the shape of zebra evoking the spirit of freedom found in the African savanna and inviting you to dream with your eyes open at the majesty of the African continent. In fact, at the time of its launch in 1998, Jungle was the third perfume from a series started by Kenzo with Tiger and then continued with Elephant.
Jungle is a woody spicy fragrance, which says masculine and its base notes of cedar and wood are turning it into a warmer and more sensual creation.
At the moment, I have no longer Jungle in my collection, nor renewed the stock with other bottle, but that does not mean that I am no longer a fan, simply because in time I developed a different taste and some other scent became favorites. Don’t get me wrong, I still believe it is a great perfume, but, in time I decided not to include Jungle in my “essential perfumes” list, since I decided I might as well live without it. But, one day, you might never know what could happen…
