Kenneth Cole Black for Her – Dressed for the Night

Fragrance Review

Arrived on the market in 2004 as the second feminine fragrance from the brand, Black for Her is an interesting floral, developed by perfumer . The scent was introduced one year after the release of its masculine counterpart, which enjoyed quite a large popularity. In fact, at that time, I strongly considered an acquisition, however due to its scarcity I gave up the idea.

Reportedly conceived in order to pay tribute to Kenneth Cole’s 20th anniversary, Black for Her centered its composition on white flowery accords, thus rendering a true dark character, similar to enjoying a very passionate night life, while leading a boring and dull existence during the day.

The olfactory structure is structured as a classic pyramid with top, heart and base notes and the flowery accords are very powerful, lusty and passionate. Black for Her opens on a combination of citrus and violet, followed quite rapidly by a mild floral heart which encompasses an unparalleled blend of accords: Lily-of-the-Valley, ylang-ylang, jasmine, hyacinth, tuberose, magnolia, lotus and iris. After more than one hour, the dry down brings forward a balanced and warm blend of sensual musk, sandalwood and amber.

Black for Her was presented in a flacon that takes the theme from the masculine version and turns it into an elegantly cylindrical silhouette, shaped around the classic black and white color scheme. The packaging box is very sophisticate, with its totally black shade and adorned by the white label, over which the name of the brand and that of the perfume was printed. Overall, Black for Her represents a classic selection accessory intended for a perfect evening.
