The year 2009 marks John Richmond’s entrance in the fragrance industry with the feminine essence called John Richmond Eau de Parfum. One year later, more exactly in June, its masculine counterpart arrived on the market. Belonging to the woody spicy olfactory group and developed by perfumer Domitille Bertier, John Richmond for Men is targeting the unconventional man.
I will admit that I’m not interested in JR fashion, nor in its beauty line, however at the time when I was approached by a sales assistant in Sephora who offered to present me this scent, I decided to give it a try. The result is that I have discovered a well-behaved fragrance, characterized by a spicy character.
The tagline that introduces the fragrance is “It’s only rock and roll” and the marketing campaign is fronted by the Italian fencer Aldo Montano. After passing the initial test on paper, I sprayed John Richmond for Men onto my skin. At this time, the perfume greeted me with an invigorating citrus-spice blend of bergamot, orange and ginger. As I was about to discover later, in approximately 20 minutes John Richmond for Men shifted to a mild spicy aroma of cardamom and black pepper, juxtaposed to rosemary and juicy melon. The final part is dedicated to the woody accords, because the base is imbued with cedar, amber and musk notes.
The bottle that holds John Richmond for Men has a rectangular form and is decorated with the J and R letters, while a pendant that reminds of a key ring is hanging from the metallic cap.
