John Richmond, the English fashion designer based in Milan, founded his fashion house in 1984 and structured the collections in 2 labels: “John Richmond” for the main line and “Richmond” for the prêt-à-porter and denim line. The inauguration of the perfumery line happened much later, in 2009, with a fragrance called John Richmond Eau de Parfum, a feminine floral fruity. I admit that I wasn’t familiar with this name, until being approached last year in Sephora by a sales assistant, who offered to present my wife the most recent arrivals.
On this occasion I discovered a fragrance inspired by the John Richmond’s fashion shows and rock and roll (reportedly, each one of the 2 lines from J Richmond draws its inspiration from a music style). Tested on my wife wrist, John Richmond Eau de Parfum opened on a combination of blackberry, pear and pink grapefruit. Later, in about 20 minutes, the top notes faded away, to leave room for the heart, which featured a floral blend of narcissus, lily and magnolia. After a couple of hours, I was able to detect its base notes, a warm mixture of sandalwood, patchouli and amber.
The bottle of John Richmond Eau de Parfum has a stylish appearance, with a rectangular shape and the transparent glass that reveals the soft yellow hue of the liquid. The flask comes with a padlock fastened at its neck that may be employed as a pendant, attached to the bracelet included in the packaging box. Overall, John Richmond Eau de Parfum is a fragrance that places the highlight on the looks, rather than the olfactory experience, however do take it into account for a sampling.
