Arrived on the market in 2008, Jil Sander Sun Men Fresh is a flanker to 2004’s Sun Men and belongs to the aromatic aquatic olfactory group. The masculine fragrance was developed by perfumer Beatrice Piquet and according to the description from the official website is “the warm scent of bronzed skin energized by a cool splash on the sea”.
Therefore, Jil Sander Sun Men Fresh translates into your requisite accessory for the summer vacation, conveying upon the bearer a more invigorating, outdoor type of feeling. I’m not head over heels over this concept of masculine scent however I do have to admit that Jil Sander Sun Men Fresh is well done.
The opening in this perfume is obtained from a blend of sea water, salt note and ozone, juxtaposed to the bergamot accord. Then, as the scent enters its mid development stage, a floral facet is unveiled, embodied by accords of plumeria (frangipani) and the spicy combination between geranium and cardamom. The best is yet preserved for the final stage, in which the energy behind the sun notes is melting the warm amber and the musk accords, in order to leave a pleasant trail on the skin.
The bottle that holds Jil Sander Sun Men Fresh has the same shape introduced by Sun Men, except this time the frosted glass was replaced by a transparent one, which reveals a liquid having a sea blue color scheme. The flask is topped by a rectangular orange stopper that matches the shade employed for printing the name of the perfume on the bottle.
