Ma Dame (French for “My Lady”) was presented by Jean Paul Gaultier in September 2008, with the tag line: “For the woman who is unique. Unconventional. Different”. It took JPG 9 years to come up with a new perfume, taking into account that his previous launch was Fragile, in 1999.
With an aroma that impresses from the very beginning, this floral woody musk fragrance was developed by perfumer Francis Kurkdjian (creator of Le Male and Fragile as well). Ma Dame could be seen as a contemporary Classique, having all that it takes to be conspicuous. In fact, the woman who wears Ma Dame is a lady who is not afraid of exhibiting its femininity.
The composition of Ma Dame relies on some simple, yet very effective notes that manage to create that special atmosphere found in a memorable perfume. The fragrance opens on an intoxicating aroma of orange, which is replaced later in the mid development by the combination that bring together an unusual note of grenadine and the classic rose. In the dry down, when the aromas are finely settling, Ma Dame turns musky and woody, thank to the mixture of Virginia cedar and white musk.
Similar to every fragrance launched by Jean Paul Gaultier, the word extraordinary is associated as well with Ma Dame’s presentation. The packaging box is white, while the perfume’s name is printed in black and white on a red background. The flask resembles a transparent block of glass, having engraved the feminine silhouette made famous by Classique and JPG’s signature below it.
