This year’s summer edition of JPG’s Le Male was presented in early March, alongside its feminine counterpart, Classique Summer, as one of the most interesting tropical duo, if we take into consideration solely the perfume’s image. Knowing that it was only about the collector’s item edition, I did not jumped immediately into sniffing it therefore this moment occurred when there was already Autumn out there, more exactly almost one month ago.
If you did not know by now, I should reveal from the start that I am a fan of Le Male, in spite of the fact that I was not able to buy me a bottle until today. As a result, I’m willing to test every new interpretation of this classic perfume. In this case, the word of the day was tropical, as I was about to found out from an official description of the product: “Le Male is awash in the heat of the summer sun, surrounded with tropical foliage, wild lianas and exotic flowers.”
The combination of green and blue embodied a color scheme employed for both the bottle and the signature packaging box: the well known tin can. As for the olfactory surprise, at least in my humble opinion, I was not able to detect much of a difference, compared to the original edition. Le Male Summer 2012 opens on the same green aroma, dominated by mint and the aroma of grass that invades your nostrils, in a very convincing manner. The other notes were present (official list for Le Male Summer 2012 include: mint, lavender, cardamom, grass, leaves, vanilla, musk and sandalwood) and I was also delighted by its expected persistence, which managed to remain a good while on my skin.
With this yearly marketing gimmick, Jean Paul Gaultier succeeds in maintaining the focus on probably their most successful duo until present time, which will continue to evolve even further in this direction. My conclusion is that Le Male Summer 2012 constitutes an excellent pretext to renew your perfume wardrobe with a classic fragrance.
