Fragrance Review
Introduced in 2007 by the Fashion House of Issey Miyake as an extension of L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme, one of their most successful fragrances, L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme Intense was designed by the same Jacques Cavallier who authored the original fragrance. Although both his creations are among my favorites, I actually prefer L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme Intense, but I never had the chance to own it until now, whereas L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme was the second perfume purchased for myself.
This woody aquatic scent is bringing balance to the theme of water, encountered in the original L’Eau and the warm spicy, woody and smoky accords create a perfect fragrance for the elegant man. L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme starts with notes of bergamot, sweet orange, yuzu and Mandarin orange. The middle notes are represented by cardamom, cinnamon, blue lotus, nutmeg and saffron, while the base notes feature accords of amber, incense, benzoin, papyrus and grey amber. Incense represents the recurrent theme in L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme, which can be found in almost all the development stages, and the amber added to the final tones confers its excellent character.
The bottle of the perfume suggests the idea of water, being produced from a transparent glass, accompanied by a deep black stopper and a minimalistic design.
With this scent, Jacques Cavallier has found a common point between simplicity and elegance. The chromatic of the scent shifts from shades of bright light, represented by the bottle glass and liquid’s color to the darkest shades of black, embodied by the stopper.
