Winner of the 2008’s Fifi Awards for “Fragrance of the Year Men’s Popular Appeal” and “Best Packaging Men’s Popular Appeal”, Intimately Beckham for Him was introduced in April 2006 as an aromatic fougere, catered to a limited audience.
The perfume followed David Beckham’s debut fragrance, 2005’s Instinct and is part of a duo which included as well Intimately Beckham for Him, the feminine counterpart. The scents were produced under license agreement by Coty and Alain Astori was the perfumer in charge with the masculine version. I was curious to smell Intimately Beckham for Him, not because of my appreciation for the (still) football player, but due to the fact that Instinct was pretty interesting.
With an opening that makes you instantly think of a citrus refreshing drink, Intimately Beckham for Him includes bergamot, grapefruit zest and cardamom in its top notes. Then, as the scent advances into the mid development, the spicy facet is revealed, thanks to the combination of nutmeg, star anise and violet accords. At the time when Intimately Beckham for Him reaches dry down it dries down to a powerful blend of warm sandalwood, sensual patchouli and amber. The selection of ingredients from this final part is able to shape a more masculine character for the fragrance.
The flacon that contains Intimately Beckham for Him is made from thick glass and has a rectangular shape that adds elegance to the image; the black label with the perfume’s name and the transparent stopper complete it beautifully.
