The masculine counterpart of “In the mood for love” it’s called “In the mood for love Man” and was introduced by Gianfranco Ferré in May 2011. Developed by perfumer Olivier Polge, this oriental spicy fragrance comes as the new addition to the line and was presented alongside a new feminine flanker, named “In the mood for love Tender”. The scent represents the male reaction to ‘a liberating urge for romantic love’, as described in the press release.
Both my wife and I were fans of “In the mood for love” for its soft floral combination that transmitted positive vibes, therefore I was a little surprised to read about a fragrance for men that is based on the image of a feminine design. Luckily, the new fragrance is well constructed, with an emphasis on spicy and floral accords that confer it a sensation of freshness.
“In the mood for love Man” opens on a heady mix of grapefruit, pepper and lavender, followed by a heart full of cardamom, coriander and African orange flower. In the dry down, the combination of patchouli, Tonka bean and cedar wood adds a warm sensuality to the construction.
The bottle that holds “In the mood for love Man” replicates the shape of its feminine predecessor; the black chromatic expresses mystery and sensuality while being accomplished by a packaging box in black and silver hues. “In the mood for love Man” is an ideal fragrance for summer, with an understated emphasis on your olfactory style.
