Introduced by Dior in 1998, Hypnotic Poison is an oriental vanilla fragrance for women, developed by perfumer Annick Menardo. The scent belongs to the Poison Collection of the French perfumery house and was created in order to embody the sensuality of the modern times. Hypnotic Poison has a construction that captivates you from the first accords, due to its distinct facets: invigorating bitter almond and carvi, rich Sambac jasmine, mysterious Jacaranda Wood and intense vanilla and musk.
When I asked my wife last year to test Hypnotic Poison, the occasion offered me an interesting conclusion. The perfume is exciting, in spite of the fact that my favorite “poison” remains Pure Poison, while my wife’s is Midnight Poison. Hypnotic Poison opens with notes of apricot, plum, coconut and spices, enveloped in bitter almond. After 30 minutes, the heart is revealed in a combination of Lily-of-the-Valley, Rose, tuberose, dominated by Sambac jasmine. Finally, the dry down features a blend of Jacaranda wood and sandalwood, combined with sweet vanilla and musk, for a long lasting trail.
The bottle of Hypnotic Poison preserves the shape of the classic Poison bottle, this time the selected chromatic is bright red, while the stopper comes in a deep dark color. The fragrance enjoyed numerous video advertisements over the years; the most recent features the French actress Mélanie Laurent. Hypnotic Poison represents a very pleasant experience that will enhance your power of seduction.
