Exerting its attraction similar to a magnet, Gucci Rush has been the favorite of many ladies since its arrival on the market in 1999. This chypre fruity fragrance developed by perfumer Michel Almairac is the brand’s second perfume dedicated to women. The description from the official website mentions that “Gucci Rush is an unmistakably sensual chypre scent for the woman who is sophisticated, intoxicating, and truly unforgettable”. And all these features are indicated mainly by the name (evoking a rush of adrenaline), and the chromatic, embodied by the red color of passion.
The harmony in Gucci Rush is complete, from the floral accords in the beginning, passing through the spicy floral at the middle and finishing with the patchouli trail that is responsible for its huge sillage. Rush opens with white floral notes of Californian gardenia, African freesia petals and peach. The heart follows with a combination of jasmine, Damask rose and coriander, while the dry down encompasses aromas of vetiver, patchouli and natural vanilla.
The scent comes in a bottle made from red opaque glass, which has an innovative shape that reminds of a video tape, an object obsolete these days. The modern design did not leave any room for a stopper, included in the bottle’s body, but this is a detail that highlights its originality.
In spite of its huge popularity, I was not tempted to test Rush until 2004, when I decided to dab a blotter in order to make myself an opinion over this perfume. The conclusion is that Gucci Rush is a classic with a distinct touch that deserves all your attention; however, I would recommend it for the age group 18 – 40.
