One of my 2 favorite scents from the Gucci Classics (the other one is Envy), Gucci Pour Homme is a woody spicy fragrance for men, introduced by Gucci in 2003 and developed by perfumer Michel Almairac. Being an admirer of Gucci’s traditional style, for me it is such a disappointment that, during the last years, Gucci has give up to its classic design in favor of the new trends that promote the ostentatious image; however Gucci Pour Homme is among the things that represent the true Gucci class.
Advertised on the official website as “Classic and traditional with a modern twist”, Gucci Pour Homme is a “seductive masculine fragrance that is at once timeless and contemporary”. This quintessence of Gucci man lifestyle represents a deluxe blend of rare woods and exotic spices, which, combined with sensual leather and amber turns Gucci Pour Homme into a typically masculine fragrance.
The opening of the fragrance feels powerful and spicy, mixing the white pepper, ginger and pink bay into something that constitutes a refreshing and tempting top note. The mid development combines papyrus wood, vetiver root and orris rhizome for a pleasant sensation (it is the stage in which the buying decision is formed), while the trail employs warm accords of amber, mixed with while olibanum and leather, to captivate you totally and transform slowly into addicted to this aroma.
Gucci Pour Homme comes in a bottle that represents the sheer perfection, in which the perfectly cut rectangular glass that holds the liquid revels through its transparency the whisky and amber like shade of the liquid. This bottle is one my all time favorites (on the same level with the ones from Baldessarini perfumes, which I find them all irresistible!) and coupled with the fragrance make an ideal choice for a man with an innate classic style.
