Benefiting from an aggressive marketing campaign, it was almost impossible to ignore Gucci Guilty in September 2010, at the time of its introduction. This oriental floral feminine fragrance is aimed at the seductive woman who feels valiant and brave and is only interested in pleasure. The inspiration for the name is better explained in the video advertisement that features the actress Evan Rachel Wood as a super heroine inspired by sensuality, yet without any trace of guilt. The video advertisement was shot by director Frank Miller, who casted the actor Chris Evans alongside Wood, in a combination of futurism and creativity that reminds of the iconic “Sin City”, a classic from the same director.
After sniffing from a blotter I can not say that Gucci Guilty is a bad perfume, it is quite OK, but the flashy bottle, that looks as if they intended to replicate the huge popularity of Lady Million, appears pretty hideous for my taste. Of course, the description on the official website mentions “Give in to the guilty pleasure of breaking boundaries”, and this appears to be tempting, but, please give up the bottle!
The Creative Director of Gucci, Frida Giannini declared “What we have created in Gucci Guilty is something hypnotic” and we are able to get the full the picture by examining the ingredients. In the beginning, mandarin is spiced up with pink pepper, which creates a boosting start. Them the middle development combines floral notes of peach, lilac and geranium, which are replaced in the base by the warm notes of amber combined with intoxicating patchouli, for a long lasting sensation.
The bottle of Gucci Guilty exhibits a combination of gold metal and glass, with the famous logo GG in the middle that allows us to observe the amber-like color of the liquid. The packaging box that comes in black with the same logo in golden letters evokes the tradition in elegance of Gucci House.
In case you are not bothered by the bottle, Gucci Guilty is a wearable fragrance that has intriguing character.
