As a flanker to the classic 1997’s Envy, Gucci’s Envy Me arrived on the market eight years ago, in 2004. Described on the official website as a “sweetly feminine, irresistible seductive and full of magnetic appeal” fragrance this is the creation of perfumer Karine Dubreuil and belongs to the floral fruity olfactory group.
Because Gucci Envy is one of my favorites from their scents (I love classics), I imagined that Envy Me was meant to be an adaptation of Envy geared at younger women. Nothing could be further than the truth, because this fragrance has the same intensity that makes it appropriate for any woman who feels courageous. Envy Me is built around precious ingredients that are combined to result a fragrance worthy of its popular precursor.
The opening of this scent brings together a composition of fruits, flowers and spices. The notes present at this stage are lychee, water jasmine and pink pepper. Then, as the scent moves slowly but sturdy into its mid development stage, you will experience the blend of floral and fruity accords that is totally refreshing: peony, pomegranate, pineapple, syringe (wild mock-orange) and white tea. The dry down is the moment in which Envy Me settles down and becomes more balance, thanks to the woody mixture that includes teakwood, sandalwood and a sensual accord of pink musk.
The flacon that contains Envy Me has the same rectangular shape as its predecessor, except this time the chose chromatic was pink, present on both the pattern that adorns the transparent glass and the shade of the word “Me” from the perfume’s name.
