Introduced in 2002, Gucci by Gucci Pour Homme benefited in 2010 from the launching of its revitalizing sport edition, called Gucci by Gucci Sport Pour Homme. This new woody aromatic fragrance for men was developed by Frida Giannini, the Creative Director of the fashion house. The description from the official website mentions that “The scent is inspired by Mediterranean isles, with refreshing citrus and aromatic notes. The mood of this fragrance – cool, fresh, yet strong – evokes a certain playfulness and leisurely state of mind.”
Gucci by Gucci Sport Pour Homme is an illustration of how a poor start may influence the outcome of a launching. Given that I already made my mind regarding Gucci by Gucci Pour Homme (a dull scent, no originality, sorry) I was tempted to judge its new flanker by the same standards, but fortunately the test proved the discrepancy of my classification.
On blotter, Gucci by Gucci Sport Pour Homme smelled OK therefore I proceed with spraying onto my skin. In the top notes I could detect a blend of grapefruit, mandarin and cypress. Afterwards, the heart followed with a mixture of cardamom, fig and juniper berries. In the dry down, I recognized the combination of patchouli, vetiver and ambrette seeds, settled down to a pleasant sensation of sophisticated elegance.
The bottle of Gucci by Gucci Sport Pour Homme exhibits the now famous horsebit, similar to the original version, which was employed in the design of the silver metal stopper, while the flask, made from thick transparent glass, reveals the light green hue of the liquid; the bottle is adorned with the scripted signature of Guccio Gucci in the upper part. The packaging box comes with the red and green stripes that bring to mind the Gucci pattern of design from the 1950’s.
Gucci by Gucci Sport Pour Homme is fronted by the actor James Franco who appeared also in the Gucci by Gucci Pour Homme campaign from 2008, in a video advertisement that makes you think of carefree life. Overall, Gucci by Gucci Sport Pour Homme is the ideal scent for a hot summer day, which is capable to invigorate your senses with its refreshing citrus composition.
