Givenchy Play Intense – For the Modern Man with an Active Life
Launched in September 2008 behind a massive marketing campaign, Givenchy Play Intense is the Eau de Parfum version of Givenchy Play and represents a deeper, more intense interpretation of the latter.
Being created in the same time, this one is also the creation of perfumers Emilie (Bevierre) Coppermann and Lucas Sieuzak, under the direct supervision of the master perfumer of Givenchy, Francoise Donche.
Givenchy Play Intense belongs to the oriental fougere olfactory group and is a fragrance in which the dominant tones are represented by coffee and pink pepper. This creation starts with warm citrus notes of bergamot and mandarine; then the accords fade away and the pink pepper, coffee flower and amyris wood enter the stage. It is a heart full of balmy and warm spicy notes that is meant to bring happiness to your olfactory senses. The base notes are surprising, mixing the tonka bean, patchouli, French Labdanum and vetiver. The scent smells great on the skin and gives you the urge to apply it again, due to the playful form of the bottle.
The presentation of Givenchy Play Intense arrived in a bottle designed to reproduce exactly an MP3 player, this time the color deep gray was suggesting power and intensity, as opposed to the soft white shades featured in the Eau de Toilette Version. Fronted by the actor/singer Justin Timberlake, the ad campaign was commissioned to fashion photographer Tom Munro, who imagined a black and white atmosphere in a Paris dominated by light and darkness.
The fragrance embodies the modern man with an active life, always in search of new adventures and provocations, who is capable of incessant exploration until exhausting all the possibilities.
Givenchy Play Intense remains in my personal list of preferred perfumes from Givenchy, having the smart casual look that turns it into a keeper.
