Introduced by Giorgio Armani in September 2009 as a floral (actually a floral spicy!) feminine fragrance, Idole d’Armani was developed by perfumer Bruno Jovanovic, from IFF. In the official website, Giorgio Armani declared that “I have always carried with me an ideal of femininity, an irresistible combination of grace, beauty and independent spirit. Idole d’Armani is my tribute to this ideal, and to women everywhere.”
As a result this creation is embodied by an elegant and charming scent that will appeal to a large number of ladies. Analyzed from the olfactory point of view, the composition of this perfume relies on delicate floral accords that are cleverly combined to bring forward a pleasant aroma.
I sampled Idole d’Armani two years ago in a Sephora store, with the precious help of my wife, who kindly accepted to spray the perfume on her wrist. After the initial moments, I began to analyze the opening in Idole d’Armani, which was shaped like a combination between bitter orange, pear, ginger and davana. Then, in no more than 20 minutes, the heart of the scent is unveiled in the unique accords of rose loukoum and jasmine, juxtaposed to saffron absolute, in order to generate a slightly spicy accord. In the dry down, the fragrance settles on the skin, thank to the blend of styrax, patchouli and vetiver.
The bottle that holds Idole d’Armani has a retro look, combining nice feminine curves and transparent glass, everything topped by a golden cap, which resembles with a jewel. For fronting this fragrance, Armani personally selected the Polish born actress and model Kasia Smutniak, because “She embodies the spirit of Idole d’Armani woman perfectly”. The resulting video advertisement introduces the tagline “This is my idol”.
