Fragrance Review

In order to compensate the fact that I did not manifest enough interest for at the time of its introduction, this is currently one of my favorite fragrances. And this is substantiated by the fact that is more than a classic, is a memorable fragrance. Therefore, 12 years after its release, you imagine that the piece of news related to another classic made me suddenly interested.

Fleur du Male is a masculine fragrance introduced in 2007 and developed by the famous perfumer . The name represents a paraphrase to the poet , because the pronunciation replicates his classic book of poems “” (French for “”), while the meaning is “Flower of The Male”.

After testing Fleur du Male in 2008, I admit that it’s very interesting; however I remain with the original in my collection. In the construction of Fleur du Male, Francis Kurkdjian employed a limited number of ingredients, to achieve a remarkable result. The petitgrain from the beginning is replaced after 30 minutes with an interesting combination of orange blossom and fern accord. Then, in the dry down, the note of coumarin provides a soft base, while you will detect a persistent smell of orange blossom, which unveils the dominant note of this fragrance.

The bottle that holds Fleur du Male reminds of the iconic bottle introduced by Le Male, this time the overriding color is white, both on the opaque glass that exhibits a male torso and on the packaging box. Fleur du Male is a softer version of Le Male, the educated cousin if you want and the perfect fragrance for the spring time of the year.
