Escape for Men Calvin Klein – A Fresh Journey
Launched in 1993, 2 years after its feminine counterpart, Escape for men from Calvin Klein is one fine representative of the aromatic green fragrance group. The designer, Steve Demercado has succeeded in creating a very interesting fragrance based on green notes. Perhaps this has something to do with the fact that Escape belongs to the old school of Calvin Klein perfumes, which seems to be forgotten these days, but then again, maybe it’s only my personal opinion.
For the first time that I sampled Escape on my skin, I just knew I had to have it. The mango, grapefruit and bergamot present in the top notes convinced me right away, although the other notes (juniper and melon) weren’t that impressive. The scent grasped me for the next phase, in which sea notes, rosemary, cypress and clary sage were aiming to generate a nice sensation. The character of this scent is represented by the vetiver and sandalwood, which alongside amber, patchouli and oakmoss shape up an ideal dry down. Analyzed from its ingredients point of view, the green and fresh sensation in Escape for men is the result of including sea notes and birch leaves in the middle notes.
And because every time we see a perfume bottle we get influenced by its design, the creator of Escape’s bottle, Pierre Dinand imagined a bottle with cylindrical shape having an opaque color that reminds of the citruses encountered in the top notes. Dinand is famous for his creations in the domain of perfume bottles, which include: Azzaro for Men, Eternity (both for men and women), Lancome Magie Noire, Obsession (both for men and women) and Yves Saint Laurent Opium for Men.
The fragrance transmits the image of an independent man, ready to break free from the society’s traditionalism.
