Escada Magnetism – An Image of Discrete Elegance
The fashion house of Escada, established in 1978 by Margaretha and Wolfgang Ley in Munich is currently owned (from 2009!) by Megha Mittal, the daughter in law of the Indian billionaire Lakshmi Mittal (currently living in London). And even though Escada is mainly known for its fashion collection, the perfumery division has done a good job as well, with many perfumes that are well done.
Being one of the most popular perfumes from Escada, Magnetism is an oriental vanilla fragrance for women, developed by perfumers Steve Demercado and Pierre Bourdon. Arrived on the market in 2003, Magnetism proved to be worthy for me in 2004. The perfume benefits from a carefully constructed image, having a bottle that looks like a rough diamond and the magenta color of bottle. The creators imagined the glass in a shape that resembles a sculpture and this completes the fascination for diamonds that has always been a point of attraction for women.
The top notes from Escada Magnetism are built from litchi, cassia, red berries, melon, black currant and pineapple. This mix of fruits is meant to awake the senses and to prepare the journey for the next stage. In the mid development, you will find an enchanting combination of soft flowers, represented by iris, magnolia, rose, freesia, green leaves, Lily-of-the-Valley, heliotrope, jasmine and caraway, added for spiciness. The base notes are structured around the gourmand caramel, with notes of sandalwood, warm amber, vanilla, vetiver, benzoin, musk and patchouli.
Escada Magnetism projects an image of discrete elegance that is highlighted as well in the video advertisement that features an image fully colored fronted by international male model Alfonso Pantisano and having the song “All is Full of Love” by Bjork as the music theme.
