Introduced by Giorgio Armani in 2008, Emporio Armani Diamonds for Men is a woody aromatic fragrance, developed by perfumer Jacques Cavallier. Given that I was quite familiar with the feminine version (launched one year before and having Beyoncé as advertising face) as a result of a 15 ml vial received by my wife as a gift, I decided to test this masculine scent from the popular Italian fashion house.
The perfume imagined by Jacques Cavallier contains cocoa as dominant note, in a way that is not offensive, making Emporio Armani Diamonds for Men a pleasant gourmand scent. Apart from the fact that if we talk about woody aromatic scents and cocoa I would definitely prefer Kokorico, the new creation from Jean Paul Gaultier, nevertheless Emporio Armani Diamonds for Men is a quite interesting scent.
The beginning in Emporio Armani Diamonds for Men contains a dose of bergamot, placed next to guaiac wood for conferring a more personal touch to the citrus. Then, in about 30 minutes, the mid development features an interesting blend of Sichuan pepper, cedar and vetiver. The aroma of pepper feels quite stark and this is perfectly balanced a few hours later, in the dry down. The combination of cocoa and warm amber leaves a trail that is captivating.
The bottle that holds Emporio Armani Diamonds for Men exhibits a rectangular shape, being manufactured from transparent glass in a dominant grey chromatic. The colorless liquid is highlighted by the Emporio Armani eagle logo engraved on the surface of the glass. To match the success of its feminine counterpart, the American actor Josh Hartnett was commissioned to front the fragrance. The resulted black and white movie makes a paraphrase to the iconic movie “Sin City”, for which Josh Hartnett constructed a memorable part. Emporio Armani Diamonds for Men is a fragrance for the man with a glamorous life, who enjoys being in the spotlight.
