Apparition Homme Intense was introduced by Ungaro in January 2007, as a flanker to 2005’s Apparition Homme. This perfume belongs to the oriental fougere olfactory group and was developed by perfumer Olivier Polge. As a variation of the original Apparition Homme, the new creation takes the woody facet employed in the beginning and substitutes it with an oriental character, which comes also accompanied by some green notes.
I was kind of enthusiast at the time when the first fragrance with this name was launched, but after getting a chance to sniff it, I was over this sentiment quite quickly. Therefore, at the moment of the announcement of a new flanker (which benefited as well from a visible image due to its red color scheme), I decided that I should give it a shot.
Apparition Homme Intense is a well-behaved type of scent, which does not bring any innovation in the olfactory structure. The fragrance starts off with a blend of mandarin and rhubarb, in which the latter is fighting for prominence. After a couple of minutes, the heart of Apparition Homme Intense is becoming obvious, thanks to the combination of anise, coriander and tea accords. The final notes of this scent emphasize on the beguiling and clearly identifiable aroma of liquorice, balanced by the accords of warm amber and sweet vanilla.
Apparition Homme Intense comes in a bottle that uses the same asymmetrical shape as the original, having this time a glass manufactured from an intense red color, in order to evoke the profound character of the fragrance.
