Elie Saab is a Lebanese fashion designer, who founded in 1982 his own fashion house, at the age of 18. Based in Beirut, the fashion house became famous today as an established designer for celebrities and royalties.
The debut in perfumery happened last year with Le Parfum, a floral feminine scent developed by perfumer Francis Kurkdjian. As a novelty at Douglas last Saturday, I solicited (again!) the assistance of my wife, so that I could analyze the composition of Le Parfum. Sadly, or better said thankfully, our expectations were deceived by this scent, which behaves predictable and does not turn you into head over heels with it. Because, in the end I realized that Elie Saab Le Parfum is nothing more than a well-behaved fragrance.
With an olfactory structure that remains faithful to the classic olfactory pyramid, Le Parfum opens on an orange blossom accord, which is closely followed by the mid development, in the shape of jasmine, sambac and grandiflorum. The dry down happens no later than 3 hours (Elie Saab Le Parfum has a limited persistence, vanishing after 5 hours!), and includes notes of cedar, patchouli and rose honey accord.
The perfume comes in a bottle that evokes a freshly cut diamond and was developed by Sylvie de France. The liquid exhibits a peach-like color and the name of the brand and the perfume are printed in black. The Polish model Anja Rubik is featured in the video advertisement, which speaks about “another way of wearing the exceptional”.
