Introduced by Dunhill in April 2005, Fresh is a masculine woody floral musk fragrance, developed by perfumer Maurice Roucel, from Symrise and aimed at the relaxed, casual men, in search for a day to day perfume that might suit for both office purposes and going out as well.
Although these days it is very hard to get by (perhaps discontinued?!), I remember I sampled Fresh 4 years ago, and I was pleasant impressed by this well-behaved perfume, which achieved its task excellently, doing what was supposed to do. Fresh is a perfume with linear behavior, structured in the classic olfactory pyramid with its top, heart and base notes, and rendering an aroma that will please the majority of its masculine target.
From the outset, a green accord, coupled with the clearly identifiable notes of basil and freesia, are setting the tempo for the upcoming phases. Then, as the top notes are slowly fading away, the replacement takes place in the shape of a combination that features a floral facet, shaped with notes of violet, aquatic floral and iris. Then, in no more than 1 hour and a half, the base of the fragrance is unveiled, in a blend that encompasses accords of leather, warm amber, patchouli and coumarin.
The flacon that holds Fresh is the typical Dunhill flask, having a rectangular shape and made from transparent glass, with ribbed edges. The name of the perfume does not appear on the bottle, while the brand is discretely shown near the lower part and everything is topped by an elegant silver stopper. Overall, Fresh could be also an interesting gift suggestion, taking into account that its notes will please almost anybody.
