The first flanker to 2008’s She Wood is called She Wood Velvet Forest Wood and was introduced by DSQUARED² in June 2009. Belonging to the floral woody musk olfactory group, this new perfume follows the masculine version, He Wood Rocky Mountain Wood, arrived on the market earlier that year.
Reportedly inspired by “the majestic beauty of pure, untouched nature” She Wood Velvet Forest Wood is dedicated to a woman in touch with the nature, who lives and breath at its rhythm. And similar to the previous creations from the Canadian duo Dean and Dan Caten, the character of this perfume is strongly attached to the splendor of a forest, in a virgin territory within their home land, Canada.
From the outset it is very perceivable the blend of floral accords and wood, in which the violet leaves and violet wood are rendering a unique aroma that announced something very interesting. Then, as the initial notes subside, the mid development kicks in, with a combination of sensual musk, galbanum, pine needles and green leaves. This behaves linear until dry down, which takes place after approximately one hour and a half, and features warm accords of amber, the unmistakable aroma of vetiver and sensual patchouli note. The trail that remains on the skin is natural and smooth, as indicated by the name of this perfume.
The flacon that contains She Wood Velvet Forest Wood has the same shape as its predecessor, but this time the color scheme is softer, while the packaging box exhibits a mild shade of brown.
